Dr. Reginald Davis, MD
Chief of Neurosurgery,
Greater Baltimore Medical Center,
Baltimore, Md

Dr. Reginald Davis, chief of neurosurgery at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, discusses an extremely common spine disease that afflicts many patients as they age-spinal stenosis. Spinal stenosis is the gradual compression of neural elements by both soft tissue and bony tissue in the central and lateral portions of the spinal canal. The results and symptoms of these compressions vary widely. Many patients develop pain and immobility when walking distances or exercising. This is called neurogenic claudication. Some patients experience extremity numbness, pain, and weakness. Dr. Davis discusses spinal stenosis, its diagnosis, and current and future treatment options to relieve patient symptoms.
